It’s me not the loom

After my loom rant yesterday I feel I should clarify that it’s me that’s the problem not my loom.

It’s a Glimakra Ideal, and it’s been ideal for me ever since I bought it.  The problem is that now I’m older and have trouble with my knees, and I find the time I have to spend on the floor tying up treadles increasingly difficult.  Not to mention the actual business of getting down there and back up again – one elbow on the loom and one on the table to haul myself to my feet.

Once my course has finished and I get my share of the money from the sale of Mum’s house I’ll be splashing out on a Louet Octado 16 shaft mechanical dobby loom.  Lots of money, but it will give me more versatility, and since all the ‘tying up’ is done while standing at the side of the loom will be considerably easier on my aged knees!
