Season of Mists and Mellow Fruitfulness

I know some people hate this time of year, just after the clocks go back and the days get shorter, but autumn is my favourite season.  Maybe it’s because I was a November baby, or maybe it’s just because the trees are so beautiful when their leaves start to turn.

Some years it seems as if all the trees turn almost overnight, but this year things are happening more gradually – some trees have almost no leaves left, some are showing stunning yellows, reds and oranges, and a few are still green.  It certainly makes for a wonderful display.

img_2478I’ve been collecting leaves as part of my current project.  Sadly they turn brittle and crunchy all too soon, but the colours remain true.  Here are a few I’ve photographed to use in my sketchbook.
